Addition of Pre-K Classroom Advancement of Vision 2026

Creative Kids on Route 22 in Brewster has been committed to providing children–from infants and toddlers to Kindergartners–safe and nurturing learning environments since they opened in 2001. This year for the first time, they are open to BCSD Pre-K students.

The classroom has 10 district students who are busy all day long, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm (aftercare is an option), learning responsibility through weekly jobs (weather watcher, teacher’s helper, calendar, and snack), taking care of a class pet–a spider plant which they water, and learning how to share by playing together in centers. They also go to the library and take out books, have story time, play outside, create seasonal activities (snowmen, snowflakes) and answer a question of the day: What would you put in your backpack if you took a winter walk?

The class is taught by Breanna Siranaula.

“We have a great group of students who love to share and play,” said Brianna.

Students play in pairs at centers on the floor and at tables. Two students are playing winter picnic at the Gingerbread Bakery, which is outfitted with shopping carts and plastic foods including oranges, pears and eggs. Two more students are on a rug connecting train tracks and building a mini-Brewster with a post office, police station and taxi cabs. Two students are building flying cars and skyscrapers with Magna-tiles. Two more students are using Play-Doh.

At the end of each rotation, Brianna rings a bell and her students know they get to move onto the next center to play some more.

The addition of a section of BCSD Pre-K at Creative Kids is another advancement of Vision 2026. We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to our youngest students and their families.
