Kindergarten
Pond Project

A group of children and adults poses together outdoors, surrounded by lush greenery and a bright blue sky filled with clouds.

The creation of the new JFK Pond Sign is a powerful example of the Profile of a JFK Student in action. What began as a classroom lesson turned into a collaborative, student-led project that brought together learners across grade levels.

Rosella Perez’s kindergarten class used critical thinking to explore the pond’s ecosystem and write persuasive letters proposing the sign. They demonstrated perseverance by following through on their idea—seeing it from concept to completion. With support from high school students, they practiced collaboration and civic responsibility, working across age groups to create something meaningful for the entire school community. Throughout the process, students showed adaptability as they learned to communicate their ideas, revise their work, and contribute to a shared goal.

Dig-O-Saurus Paleontology Sandbox

Children enthusiastically dig in sand to uncover a dinosaur skeleton, using small brushes for excavation. Relaxed outdoor learning environment.

The Dig-O-Saurus paleontology sandbox brings the Profile of a Brewster Student to life through hands-on, imaginative play. As students collaborate to uncover fossils, they practice critical thinking by asking questions and making observations, build perseverance as they carefully dig and brush through the sand, and demonstrate adaptability by working as a team and following safety guidelines. Even during recess, Brewster students are growing into curious, capable learners.

Kids Heart Challenge

A child in a spotted sweater climbs a colorful rock wall, reaching for yellow grips with determination in a gym setting.

As part of a school-wide fundraiser for the American Heart Association, JFK students participate in the Kids Heart Challenge—an obstacle course in PE that promotes heart health, physical activity, and helping others.

Through the Kids Heart Challenge, students showed perseverance, civic responsibility, and adaptability as they tackled heart-healthy activities while helping others. It’s a fun and active way to build character—and stronger hearts!

Holiday Food Drive

Children gather around boxes filled with various snacks and food items on a vibrant classroom rug.

Through their work on the JFK Holiday Food Drive, students showed true civic responsibility, collaboration, and perseverance—creating posters, counting donations, and helping those in need. Their efforts resulted in nearly 1,000 items donated to the Brewster Community Food Pantry. Thank you for supporting our students and community!
